Well, thank you Mr Cage

Well, I am still unsure what had just I watched; but it was one of the most entertaining movies I had the fortune of watching lately. The movie certainly felt like it was made by people flying high on acid. (Which, then, was put into the move. It was essentially Nicolas Cage playing Nicolas Cage making a movie where he played Nicolas Cage.) And while the story, the characters and everything else was really hilarious, it also provided a useful lesson.

Nicolas Cage’s character, Nicolas Cage is essentially an ego-centric washed-out movie star, who absolutely dominates his teenage daughter -always talking about his favorites, his opinion, his outlook on stuff, without ever bothering to get to know his daughter better. And while guiding your spawn in life is important (less they end up listening to One Direction or Coldplay), it is not the same as forcing them into a tiny mold of yourself. And this is a very valuable lesson for me right now. I am very keen on introducing my daughter to the things I love -obviously in an age-appropriate manner, so she only got my Star Wars LEGO figures without actually know what Star Wars is; let alone watching Aliens together. But I will have to keep in mind not to push stuff on her, and allow her to develop on her own. And enjoy things that she likes together without me criticizing it. Even if it is Justin Bieber.

So thank you Mr Cage for this lesson. Next time your are in Budapest I will buy you a beer. Or a flodni.
